A rare silk brocade piling collar

Description

The large piling collar covering the shoulders was part of the official court chaofu costume. Only few have survived, because they were removable. This one is decorated with facing dragons chasing the pearl, waves, rocks, flames and lingzhi-shape clouds, also with silver threads lotus scrolls on a dark blue ground on the edge. The back decorated with silver brocade decorated with medallions of dragons holding the pearl surrounded by lingzhi-shape clouds and flames.
