Description

The group is in a form of two conjoined mushrooms, one on another, with the same stem. The mushrooms are deftly carved in a naturalistic style. The jade with a smooth polish, is veined with black.

In the Chinese tradition, the mushroom is a symbol of longevity. It is associated with daoist immortals. The naturalistic and plain aesthetic of this jade group matches perfectly with the scholar’s tastes. This group could have been used as a scroll weight or a scholar contemplation object.
