Description

The plaque of circular shape, in gilt-bronze and turquoise ground cloisonne enamels. In the lower part, a pond with blooming lotus flowers and leaves. The pond is surrounded by an elegant fence made of spotted bamboo. The two little dogs, most likely Pekingese, are depicted in the center of a garden of flowers and shrubs. One with a yellow and white coat, the other with dark hairs. Both have collar with pendants. The Pekingese were really sough-after pets during Qing dynasty, especially by the imperial court.
